Precision Execution's ISO 22301: 2019 Business Continuity Management Systems Lead Auditor course is designed to deliver the information you need in a concise package. We provide you with the knowledge of how to conduct audits using the Case Study method without requiring you to learn unnecessary information or disrupt your schedule.
Global organizations, large and small from all sectors, have unfortunately learned that companies that do not prepare for a wide range of disruptions and contingencies have faced insurmountable financial and reputational losses and not been able to survive. Companies are spending more than $25B/yr in resiliency, data recovery, backups and other processes and tools to feel comfortable they have achieved optimal resilience and prepare themselves.
The up side is that there is a valuable credential that will give you the highly sought after skills of building and auditing a BCMS that will be able to perform under extreme duress. A robust BCMS has proven an invaluable building block of resilience to best respond to a wide range of adverse events. In 2012, the first version of ISO 22301 was published while the current version was released in the Fall of 2019. Thousands of certificates serve as evidence of independent assessments that validate conforming systems.

This course is a requirement for businesses looking to conduct third-party audits for certification bodies. It also helps your business appear more professional and trustworthy to consumers and partners.
- Day 1 – REQUIREMENTS – The first day of the training course involves understanding the primary objectives and concepts of BCMS requirements. Our instructors will help you understand and break down what it means to be a third-party auditor and what comes with this responsibility. We start with a big-picture review of these concepts and work down to the specifics, reviewing standards clause by clause.
-Day 2 – EXPLORING IMPLEMENTATION – Next, students will explore the implementation and certification processes. Instructors will help understand what implementing a BCMS involves. FINRA Rule 4370 and17 CFR § 23.603 - Business continuity and disaster recovery are just a few examples. Instructors facilitate a dialogue on resources an implementation will require, DRAFT implementation project plans and create an understanding of the critical path to implementation, how long it may take and how much it may cost. Learn what is meant by Business Continuity Strategies & Solutions and review some examples. Learn the contents of a Business Impact Analysis (BIA). Review Business Continuity Plans (BCP’s) and determine if they meet the standard. Learn how to calculate the Recovery Time Objective (RTO), Maximum Tolerable Period of Disruptions (MTPoD) and the Recovery Point Objective (RPO). Students will also become familiar with the documentation surrounding BCMS implementation. Additionally, we introduce students to efficient business tools that enhance implementation speed and minimize errors. These introduced systems also greatly facilitate the maintenance and sustainment of the BCMS.
-Day 3 – CONDUCTING INTERNAL AUDITS – Conducting internal audits is a crucial part of the ISO 22301 standard. After completing day three and all prior trainings, you will be ready to conduct internal audits.
This training will cover various aspects of auditing, including measuring artifacts against criteria, drawing conclusions, and writing nonconformance statements. Days three and four will focus on the auditing process from ISO 19011. This involves initiating, planning, executing, reporting, and closing the management system audit. You will also compare internal audits and third-party audits, exploring what makes them unique.
-Day 4 – LEAD AUDITOR - This course introduces students to the responsibilities of a Lead Auditor and provides training on planning, executing, reporting, and closing a BCMS audit. Through a case study, students will practice writing an audit plan, conducting opening and closing meetings, and handling challenging audit situations. We also cover Advanced Auditor topics such as remote auditing, accreditation requirements stemming from ISO 17020, International Accreditation Forum (IAF) Informative and Mandatory Documents, continuing professional development and making good auditors great!
All companies who are ISO 22301 certified must participate in internal audits, which this course will prepare you for. You will also be fully prepared to implement a BCMS.
